Hey cool walker.

So I was walking to Vertigo the other day and this indie hipster girl says out of her car “hey cool walker, strut your stuff”. I thought to my self, “hmmm.” I looked at what I was wearing: cargo shorts (with stains), my Kent City reading club shirt, sandals and a Tigers hat. I guess it was the fact that I was actually strutting, like a rooster would strut around the chickens in the barnyard. I had it coming.

So I ended up spending a little time in Vertigo only to leave with both Friends and 20/20 by the Beach Boys. I really didn’t have the money to buy anything, but I like to make a purchase now and then just to help keep supporting Herm and the crew.

So I know only a few people check the happy hour blog now and then, but I just wanted to say thank you for supporting our band and helping us to "keep going". Currently we are working to take Happy Hour on the road again. I have posted a few dates on the myspace (myspace.com/happyhour). A lot of places will change in the next few weeks, but stay tuned and we will keep you updated. Like always if you have friends at college in those areas, or a really nice grandma let us know.

We have also started seeing some feedback from labels that we have been contacting, and let me tell you folks we have had some mixed reviews. Overall the Happy Hour camp is still very optimistic and we are still looking for that label that fits for us. The end of the summer should be very exciting with many shows and some new songs/demos.

I don't want to say anything about a new album, but we are starting to think about looking at what new songs might be good for recording. I feel a solid weekend at the cottage coming though. It's always nice to get away from town and just record and have a good time with the boys.

SO! I say leave the kids and pets at home and come check out the Happy Hour band this summer/fall. Burn some Magnet Heart Conveyors, tell your sisters or brothers about our myspace/itunes, eat a bagel, take a nap, whatever.

Ok well take care We'll keep working on our image. ha. You'll get the joke later.

So we have hit the 2000 mark with friends on myspace. ...yep. I think that is worthy for posting. ha. So this winter's tour is set and we are getting ready for the final weeks before we head out. Brent has been spending his time trying to NOT get sick (with a form of throat problem/lems), and working on radio promotion for the tour (check the website for stations we'll be interviewing on). Schultz has been working on securing us some "pub-mix" for the van, and brushing up on is knowledge of the french language. I have been printing maps, and putting money toward an atlas (one year out of date --savings... $11).

THE WORLD MAY IMPLODE:

I just wanted to post on this 'ol friend to see what would happen. To see if all have given up on the Happy Hour Xanga or MySpace blogs. Rider and I are no longer in school, so we somehow have less time to kill? Don't ask me how it works. Well, what can I say? Winter tour is coming on quickly. Songs are coming out. Blah, Blah, Blah. Hmmm, what's interesting. Some GREAT news? (3 minutes lapses) Shit, I've just got NOTHING at all. Perhaps that's why this journal died in the first place. Well, respond if Xanga is not dead as a whole.

It's been a fun ride.

Happy Hour calls it quits today.

JK- we are working very hard on building a nice package to send out to record labels. about time huh? Well we have invested some money in a few books and have begun searching for labels that might fit for us. We are looking to tour this winter in the midwest and eastcoast area as well.

For now we are enjoying a little time to relax and prepare for yet another fun fall/winter of music.

Brent Shirey- Jobless, but not homeless. Been wasting away with a guitar in hand creating new tunes and writing a lot of new material. Currently he is sporting a new "throw back to high school" hair cut. I have to say that it is very beautiful. Seems to be shopping and grilling a lot this summer.

Scott Schultz- Worker. Since his most recent trip to Europe Scott has been working to get back into the capitalistic society. He has been working all summer at WMU. Currently he has one year left at school. He tried brewing his first batch of beer recently as well. As of yesterday his parents left for a 10 day trip... party anyone?

Scott Rider- Pool Boy. Ever wonder how many people actually own pools? me either, but I will tell you that i see more in a week than I would ever think existed. who has all this money? My summer has been spent outside. I have visited the beach more than ever in the summer this year, and have been taking many walks through the streets of Grand Rapids finding my way into different taverns, bars and restaurants.

Next wednesday we are going to rival the blues on the mall and play outside of two chopper. come on down and have some ice cream and check out the sites and sounds of wednesdays.

wow did you think I died? well Im still here. tour was swell. I started a real journal the other night and have been putting down a lot of thoughts. random "rider" news:

I avoided a seatbelt ticket. I smell like grill. summer is good. i turn 23 on june 9th. Send gifts. work is hard. scott schultz is back from europe. shirey is still jobless. I got a new chair for my desk. my friends threw me a surprise graduation party. I was surprised. um. strokes. beach boys. ghostface killah. new vinyl added to my collection.

Holland show tomorrow. tour videos by monday. Im sorry for the lack-o-posting. I am excited to read what everyone else is up to. Sorry to anyone that came to gr fest only to find us rained out- what a waste of a great time slot. ok well love to you.

Well Im done. ...With school that is. Yesterday I turned in my last business paper. I think I might just keep writing case studies about W-Mart and stuff anyway. No but really I feel great to be done. Tour starts in about a week. We are getting our new van and heading out soon. Here we come east coast.

Started back up at work. bought the eels live dvd. drank some water. looked up random facts on wikipedia.org. grew a duster (mustache). shaved. played a massive amount of rock-paper-scissors.
